END OF SEASON / START OF 2026...

Female Football Week!

To celebrate Female Football Week, we are proud to share a short video montage highlighting some of the amazing female players, coaches and committee members across our club.

The video celebrates the passion, dedication and contribution of the women and girls who help make our football community so strong both on and off the pitch.

We hope you enjoy watching and join us in recognising and celebrating female football at our club.

Yours sincerely,Yarra Jets FC

Child Safety Update

We’re pleased to share that the club has introduced an updated Child Safety Policy and Code of Conduct, reinforcing our ongoing commitment to providing a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all children and young people at Yarra Jets FC.

These documents outline clear expectations, standards of behaviour, and processes to ensure child safety remains at the centre of everything we do.

We’re also proud to formally appoint Jo Fitch as our Child Safety Officer. Jo brings extensive professional experience in child safety through her work with the Department of Education, along with a strong connection to our club community.

Jo has already been working behind the scenes to develop and strengthen our child safety framework, and we’re incredibly grateful for her time, care, and expertise in this space.

If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out via yjfc.info@gmail.com, where Jo will review and respond.

Thank you to everyone who continues to support a safe and positive environment at our club.

Referees Needed for Round 1 – 26 April

As we gear up for the start of the season, Yarra Jets FC is looking for referees to support our Round 1 fixtures on Saturday 26 April.

Refereeing is a great way to get involved in the club, build confidence, develop leadership skills, and earn some extra money — all while supporting our teams on game day.

We are seeking referees across a range of age groups and experience levels. Whether you’re an experienced referee, a current player, or someone keen to give it a go, we’d love to hear from you.

Why referee?

  • Get paid per match
  • Stay involved in football
  • Build confidence and decision-making skills
  • Support your club community

If you or someone you know is interested in refereeing for Round 1 (and potentially ongoing throughout the season), please get in touch as soon as possible.

Your support is essential to ensuring matches can go ahead smoothly!

Match Day Operations Update – Shared Roster System

As we head into the 2026 season, Yarra Jets will be introducing a new roster-based system for match day operations.

Over the past few years, a small number of individuals have taken on the responsibility of setting up each weekend. While we’re incredibly grateful for their ongoing support, it’s important that this workload is shared more evenly across the club.

For the start of the season, teams will be rostered on across the first few rounds and asked to provide 2–3 volunteers per team to assist with basic match day setup. This may include tasks such as setting up goals, corner flags, and general field preparation.

This approach ensures a more sustainable and fair system, while continuing to provide a great match day experience for all players and families.

Further details, including the roster, will be communicated to teams shortly.

Team Manager Information Session – Attendance Essential

As we head into the 2026 season, all Team Managers are strongly encouraged to attend our upcoming information session.

This year, we are transitioning to a new competition management system, Dribl, replacing GameDay (GD). This change will impact team sheets, match day processes, and overall team administration, so it’s important that all Team Managers are familiar with the new system.

The session will cover key responsibilities, how to use Dribl, and what’s expected on game days to ensure a smooth and compliant season for all teams.

Whether you’re new to the role or returning, this session is highly valuable and will help set you up for the season ahead.

Car Parking at Fairfield Park

Fairfield Park car parking update

Yarra Jets Football Club advises parking around Fairfield Park and the wider Yarra Bend Park precinct is extremely limited.

The precinct is particularly busy on weekends, with high use by recreational walkers and cyclists accessing the Main Yarra and Merri Creek trails, as well as visitors to Fairfield Boathouse and the Fairlea Netball Precinct. We urge everyone to allow extra time to find a car park and please adhere to signage. Two dedicated bays adjacent the clubrooms are reserved for  FV referees.

Visitors are encouraged to refer to the club’s parking map, which outlines nearby car parks and on‑street parking options. Please consider active travel and public transport options including bus route 546. Dennis on the Hurstbridge Line is the nearest train station - a 15-minute walk away.

YJFC continues to advocate with Yarra City Council and State Government representatives for improved traffic management solutions. In recent years, 60 parking bays were lost to the now permanent bike lanes on Heidelberg Road, and temporary community access to the Melbourne Polytechnic car park ceased in September 2025. YJFC is actively working toward interim solutions for the 2026 season and a long‑term outcome. Please bear with us.

Dockerty Cup - Yarra Jets Progress to Round 4!

Yarra Jets FC’s Senior Men have progressed to Round 4 of the Dockerty Cup, marking the furthest the club has ever advanced in the competition.

The boys delivered a fantastic performance in Round 3, securing a well-earned win and booking their place in the next round of Victoria’s premier knockout competition.

The Dockerty Cup is one of the most prestigious tournaments in Victorian football, featuring clubs from across the state competing for a pathway into the national Australia Cup.

For Yarra Jets FC, reaching Round 4 represents a historic milestone and a huge achievement for the players, coaching staff, and the wider club community.

There were massive scenes at full time as the squad celebrated a result that continues an exciting cup run for the club.

Congratulations to the team — we look forward to seeing what Round 4 brings.

Dockerty Cup: Round 1 Review

Our Senior Men opened their 2026 Australia Cup campaign with a strong 6–1 win in Round 1. It was our first competitive match of the season and featured a mixed squad of experienced players and several young boys, including a few making their senior debut for the club. We faced a young and energetic Spring Hills side who started brightly and controlled the first 15 minutes. We absorbed the pressure well and scored twice in quick succession against the run of play, which shifted the momentum in our favour. From there, we took control and went into halftime leading 3–0 after creating a number of quality chances.
The second half began similarly, with Spring Hills seeing plenty of the ball. However, our defensive unit and goalkeeper (Aidan Duffy, Josh Penallor, Jack Trainer, Kai Chaivannacoopt, Gary Devine, Vince Barca and Jed MacCartney) were outstanding in absorbing pressure and limiting clear-cut opportunities.. As the game opened up, we regained control and added three more goals to extend the lead to 6–0. A late penalty to Spring Hills brought the final score to 6–1. Overall, I was very pleased with the performance, especially considering many of the lads haven’t played together before. There’s still plenty of work to do ahead of the league season, but it’s encouraging to see the depth within the squad and the willingness of players to step up when called upon. We now look ahead to our next competitive fixture against Somerville Eagles SC on Saturday, February 28th (details to be released by Football Victoria this week).
Goal Scorers:
Richard Black (1), Alex Worthington (1), Kalam Ross (1), Hanibal Taffere (3)
Man of the Match – Hanibal Taffere "H"
A remarkable return to competitive senior football for H, who marked his first senior competitive appearance since 2024 with a superb hat-trick. After suffering an ACL injury in 2024 and spending over a year recovering, H has worked tirelessly through pre-season and has been rewarded for his dedication. A fantastic comeback story and a big boost for the squad.
Club Debut – Jed MacCartney
A young and confident goalkeeper who made his first senior appearance for the Jets. Jed had an excellent game and handled the occasion superbly. His presence and composure are a real asset heading into the season.
Jack Turner (17)
A proud moment for the club as Jack made his senior debut after progressing through our junior ranks. Having trained with the reserves and featured late last season, Jack committed to the senior squad this year and has been working hard since November. He came off the bench and performed very well, a promising start to what we hope will be a big season for him.
Kai Chaivannacoopt
After an injury-interrupted couple of seasons and just one senior appearance last year, Kai returned for his first competitive senior match in nearly 12 months. He was outstanding defensively, doing an exceptional job on Spring Hills’ most dangerous attacker. A great sign moving forward.
Samuel Swain
Sam earned his first competitive senior start and continues to show improvement week by week. His development is encouraging, and he adds valuable depth to the squad.
Kalam Ross
Like H, Kalam returned after a long ACL layoff. A true club man who coached while sidelined, he made his first senior competitive appearance and delivered a strong performance with a goal and an assist. A well-deserved moment and hopefully the start of a big year

FV Grand Finals: Yarra Jets off to the Big Dance

In what can only be rated a stand out season for our U13 girls, the team has taken its final step towards glory in qualifying for Sunday’s metropolitan grand final.

Their emphatic 4-0 semi final win over Sunbury United - a team that was undefeated in 2025 and had only conceded 8 goals all season - has pitted them against Mornington Peninsula FC following its tight 3-2 semi final win.

Mornington Peninsula is also undefeated in 2025 and had a +62 goal difference at the end of its season.

Our players have shown great determination and resilience throughout 2025. They’ve repeatedly performed under pressure in the big moments, and wholly deserve the opportunity to bring home the trophy.

To celebrate their achievements and commitment, and the support of their families - international holidays and domestic travel plans have been adjusted to ensure player availability - we’d love to see a strong show of Yarra Jets support on the sidelines to cheer on the team.

The match is this Sunday, pitch 4 at the Home of the Matildas, Bundoora. Kick off is 9am.

Go Jets!
